SCC Radiography Student Earns Winslow Cup Trophy

Second-year Radiography students at Stanly Community College (SCC) recently attended the North Carolina Society of Radiologic Technologists Annual Conference at the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC. All attending students completed a mock registry exam in preparation for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' national examination, to be completed after graduation. Approximately 200 students from across the State completed this exam and SCC Radiography student, Danielle Burgess, earned the highest score and was awarded the Winslow Cup trophy.

The Radiography curriculum prepares the graduate to be a radiographer, a skilled health care professional who uses radiation to produce images of the human body. Graduates of accredited programs are eligible to apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' national examination for certification and registration as medical radiographers. Graduates may be employed in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, medical laboratories, government agencies, and industry.

Stanly Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. The Radiography Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
