SCC: A Valuable Resource for Finding Your Next Employee

Lindsey McRaeWhen Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie had an opening for an IT professional they realized that there was a resource right in their own back yard that could provide the perfect fit – Stanly Community College (SCC). Jann Lowder, Chair & President of the Board of Directors of Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie and member of the NC State Board of Community Colleges, recognized the importance of having SCC as a valuable resource for employee needs in Stanly County.

Ms. Lowder contacted SCC and after careful consideration Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie decided on SCC grad Lindsey McRae. According Ms. Lowder, "…I know that SCC has such a wonderful technology department and finding a quality graduate wouldn’t be that difficult. Lindsey has been a great addition to our organization as an excellent team member who is knowledgeable, reliable and dependable." Lori Thayer, Interim Executive Director at Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie echoed these same sentiments. "Lindsey has gone above and beyond with her duties," Ms. Thayer states. "She brings to our organization patience, diligence and most importantly, she is a quick learner."

Lindsey, a West Stanly High School graduate attended SCC right after graduation and received two Associate in Applied Science Degrees; one in Networking Technology and the other in Information Systems Security. These degrees created a foundation for success for Lindsey to tackle any new job requirement. Lindsey is thrilled at the prospect of working for an excellent organization like Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie. The work environment "…feels like a second family. Everyone has been so welcoming and understanding. Additionally, it was important to me in stay in Stanly County because I truly love the area."
