Wells Fargo has awarded Stanly Community College (SCC) a $7,500 grant to support its new Industrial Electronics Lab located in the soon to be renovated Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology Center – Phase II. The grant will support the purchase of a Lab-Volt Motor Control Training Station that will be used to provide technical training for students.
SCC is a primary provider of workforce training in the region, assisting in attracting new businesses to the area and providing continued training to those currently in the workforce. “We are grateful for Wells Fargo’s support in the area of workforce development,” said Dr. Brenda Kays, president of Stanly Community College. “This investment will help support our new Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology Center – Phase II by providing much needed equipment to help our students master new skills.”
This training station will be housed in the College’s Industrial Electronics Lab, located in our Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology – Phase II facility. This training system is designed to teach the theory and techniques of motor controllers, allowing students to select and mount control devices to form typical control circuits and to troubleshoot them once a fault is inserted. Potential jobs in this field include automation and mechatronics technicians, plant maintenance technicians, and equipment maintenance technicians.
