Albemarle, NC - Stanly Community College (SCC), in conjunction with the Albemarle Rotary Club, will honor WWII Veterans during the annual luncheon to be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the CHS|Stanly Regional Family and Education Center on North Second Street and Hawthorne Avenue, Albemarle, NC. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served promptly at noon.
The Stanly County WWII recognition program was first held in 2004 with over 255 veterans in attendance. This year’s luncheon is sponsored by the Albemarle Rotary Club.
Maj Gen (Ret) Robert Stonestreet, USAF; SCC, Trustee Chair, stated, “This year's program will include world-class entertainment performed by the 82nd Airborne Division's "All American" Chorus from Fort Bragg. They have performed all over the free world, and we are fortunate to have been able to work out a date that they can come to Stanly County to support our Rotary Veterans Luncheon. I truly believe this will be a program to remember.”
Christy Bogle, SCC Foundation Executive Director, noted, “Stanly Community College is honored to partner with the Albemarle Rotary Club and recognize our local World War II Veterans. The annual luncheon continues to be one of the highlights of the year for the College and for Rotary. We look forward to honoring this special group of heroes and are continuously inspired by their bravery and patriotism.”
All World War II Veterans are invited to attend this luncheon. To reserve a seat, veterans are asked to contact Donna Jones, Stanly Community College, at (704) 991-0217, no later than May 1, 2018.
