As you may know, Stanly County has reported its first presumptive case of COVID-19 (https://www.thesnaponline.com/2020/03/20/stanly-confirms-its-first-coronavirus-patient/). In case you are not sure how presumptive is used in this case, it means that someone has tested positive for the virus by a local public health lab, but not confirmed by the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00047449.htm). We believe this case to be valid and will act as such. Please note that, to our knowledge, this case has no connection to SCC.
Due to the threat of community spread, and the desire of our government officials for as many people as possible to limit contact with others, Stanly Community College will conduct all operations remotely, effective immediately. Physical access to our campus resources will be restricted to faculty and staff, who will continue to have access to campus resources on an as needed basis. The areas that we originally planned to open will no longer be open (LRC, food pantry, business office, “visitor’s center”, and bookstore).
Updated frequently asked questions will be posted later this weekend.
