The welding students at Stanly Community College (SCC) crafted a barbeque grill and fire pit for the SCC Foundation. The items were purchased at a silent auction that was held during the annual golf tournament — The Stanly Classic Scholarship Golf Tournament.
“Creating projects for our community not only helps students hone their skills, but they get a better understanding of the techniques that they have learned in class," noted William Beaver, SCC Piping Industry Welder & Lead Instructor. “It’s amazing what they were able to do with a piece of metal.”
The Welding Program prepares students for many different types of careers in all types of industry. Metal working, welding, and fabrication industries offer consistent employment and advancement opportunities for technically trained and skilled qualified individuals. SCC’s welding courses provide students with basic theory, practical application, and a working knowledge of welding processes in preparation for entry-level trade positions. SCC’s program is certified by the American Welding Society.
