VMware Certified Professional 7 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)

The VMware Certified Professional 7 curriculum promotes this industry-recognized certification and validates that students know how to administer and troubleshoot vSphere V7 infrastructures. The curriculum consists of two courses. These include:

  • VMWARE VSPHERE: INSTALL, CONFIGURE, & MANAGE (ICM) 7
  • VMWARE VSPHERE: OPTIMIZE & SCALE (O&S) 7

 

VMware vSphere: ICM 7

Learn fundamentals of installing, configuring, and managing VMware vSphere® 7, which includes VMware ESXi™ 7 and VMware vCenter Server™ 7.

With the VMware vSphere: ICM 7 curriculum, students will be able to:

  • Describe the software-defined data center (SDDC)
  • Explain the vSphere components and their function in the infrastructure
  • Describe the benefits and capabilities of VMware Skyline
  • Install and configure ESXi hosts
  • Deploy and configure VMware vCenter® Server Appliance™
  • Use VMware vSphere® Client™ to manage the vCenter Server inventory and the vCenter Server Configuration
  • Manage, monitor, back up, and protect vCenter Server Appliance
  • Create virtual networks with vSphere standard switches
  • Describe the storage technologies supported by vSphere
  • Configure virtual storage using iSCSI and NFS storage
  • Create and manage VMware vSphere® VMFS datastores
  • Use the vSphere Client to create virtual machines, templates, clones, and snapshots
  • Create a content library and deploy virtual machines from templates in the library
  • Manage virtual machine resource use
  • Migrate virtual machines with VMware vSphere® vMotion® and VMware vSphere® Storage vMotion®
  • Create and manage a vSphere cluster that is enabled with VMware vSphere® High Availability and VMware vSphere® Distributed Resource Scheduler™
  • Discuss solutions for managing the vSphere life cycle
  • Use VMware vSphere® Lifecycle Manager™ to perform upgrades to ESXi hosts and virtual machines

VMware vSphere: O&S 7

Learn advanced skills for configuring and maintaining a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure

With the VMware vSphere: O&S 7 curriculum, students will be able to:

  • Configure and manage vSphere networking and storage for a large and sophisticated enterprise
  • Use VMware vSphere® Client™ to manage certificates
  • Use Identity Federation to configure VMware vCenter Server® to use external identity sources
  • Use VMware vSphere® Trust Authority™ to secure the infrastructure for encrypted VMs
  • Use host profiles to manage VMware ESXi™ host compliance
  • Create and manage a content library for deploying virtual machines
  • Manage VM resource usage with resource pools
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators for compute, storage, and networking resources for ESXi hosts
  • Optimize the performance in the vSphere environment, including vCenter Server
