Adjunct Instructor, Activity Director Program

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:  The adjunct instructor will teach approved Activity Director - Basic curriculum in the classroom, and online.  Instructor will be responsible for setting-up and visiting clinical sites. Evaluate student progress, notify program coordinator of any issues or concerns, monitor supply levels, notify program coordinator of any needs, and adhere to all policies and procedures as dictated by DHSR.

Required Qualifications:

·         Certified with the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP). & At least 3 years full time experience as a Director or Consultant of Activities within the past 5 years in a state licensed health care facility, preferably with classroom teaching experience.

OR

·         Licensed with the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL) as a Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) plus at least 3 years of full time experience as a Director or Consultant of Activities within the past 5 years in a state licensed health care facility. *Special note: as of 10/5/05, state certification for recreation therapists became a state licensure law. See www.ncbrtl.org for specifics. & At least 15 hours of continuing education within the past year in fields related to long term care, preferably with classroom teaching experience.

OR

·         Bachelors or higher degree in Human Services field plus at least 3 years of full time experience as Director or Consultant of Activities within the past 5 years in a state licensed health care facility. & At least 15 hours of continuing education within the past year in fields related to long term care, preferably with classroom teaching experience.

OR

·         Employed as a full time Director or Consultant of Activities with at least 6 years of experience within the last 8 years in a state licensed health care facility. & At least 15 hours of continuing education within the past year in fields related to long term care, preferably with classroom teaching experience.  Must have high school diploma or GED.

·         Completion of Train the Trainer

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous or current employment in a long-term care facility & experience teaching Activity Director Basic curriculum.
