CAE-CD logoAs the world grapples with the escalating threat of cyber assaults, the demand for cybersecurity experts to be at the forefront of defense is surging. In recognition of its exceptional cybersecurity program, Stanly Community College (SCC) has been bestowed with the exclusive and prestigious designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) through 2028. The College’s IT Cybersecurity program was also validated through the 2028 academic year. The validation of the program was SCC’s first step in applying for the designation as an institution, underscoring SCC's commitment to providing students with a top-tier education in cybersecurity.

The CAE-CD program, a testament to the importance of cybersecurity, is co-sponsored by two of the most respected entities in the field- the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This collaboration aims to enhance and promote the expertise of cybersecurity professionals within numerous government agencies at federal, state, and local levels, thereby making a substantial impact on the cybersecurity landscape.

Colleges and universities that earn the CAE designation from the U.S. Government undergo stringent and thorough evaluations. These assessments are meticulously designed to ensure that students receive exceptional training and are equipped with the comprehensive knowledge needed to effectively combat the cybersecurity threats that our world faces today, instilling a sense of confidence in the quality of their education.

Students pursuing a cybersecurity degree should target CAE-CD-designated institutions. Doing so assures a top-tier education endorsed by leading cybersecurity employers.
