Things To Know...
- Testing with the SCC Testing Center should be scheduled by the student. When you receive your course syllabus at the beginning of the semester please schedule your exam dates with the center.
- Upon arrival for testing, the student will sign in and show identification.
- If the student chooses to bring non-testing materials, they will be asked to store them under their chair until the test is completed.
- If a student misses a test or an exam for any reason, it is their responsibility to notify the instructor to determine if a retest can be arranged.
- Once the student enters the testing space, he/she will not be able to leave the area until the test is completed.
- Students are expected to take care of all personal needs (such as using the restroom, eating, etc.) before testing.
- Failure to comply with testing rules and standards (ex: cheating) will result in punishment as per documented in the Code of Conduct.
- Has earned a High School Equivalency or GED and did not meet the college readiness measures.
- Has graduated from a Non-US High School.
- Does not have a valid high school GPA.
- Has graduated from high school and successfully completed Math 2 more than 10 years prior to enrollment.

Testing Center Rules
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The test is intended for use with adult nursing and radiography programs applicant populations. Once you have submitted an application with all of the prerequisites fulfilled by the deadline, you will be invited to take the TEAS® test. The objects assessed on ATI TEAS® are those which educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level academic readiness of program applicants.
All individuals preparing to take the TEAS® test must create an ATI account. Time Limit is 209 minutes for 170 total questions. Outside calculators are not allowed for testing. A study guide is available to assist students in preparing for the TEAS® exam. Contact the SCC bookstore for more details.
TEAS® scores over two years old will not be considered during the admission process. All eligible applicants must take the latest version of the ATI TEAS® for admission purposes. TEAS® appointments are by invitation only.

- SCC offers CLEP (College Level Examination Program) to anyone desiring to quickly earned credit for what they already know at a fraction of the cost of a college course.
- There is an $89 test fee payable to College Board at the time of registration and a $20 administration fee payable to Stanly Community College in the Business Office prior to each CLEP appointment.
- Active Military Service Members may be eligible to take exams for free - Check eligibility.
