For more than 50 years, North Carolina’s Community Colleges have partnered with businesses
and industries through NCWorks Customized Training Programs. North Carolina was the
first state in the nation to offer company-specific instruction as part of its economic
development strategy.
Stanly Community College proudly continues this tradition through strong partnerships
with local employers. We understand that a company’s success depends on access to
a skilled and adaptable workforce. Our Business and Industry Training Programs are
designed to help employees build the productive, innovative culture your organization
values and needs to thrive.
SCC recognizes that the availability of a well-trained workforce is a key factor when

our economic and workforce development partners, we assist employers through every
step — from initial recruitment and personalized screening to customized training
solutions.

About the Customized Training Program
The Customized Training Program supports full-time production and direct customer
service roles within local businesses and industries. This initiative enhances growth
opportunities for companies while equipping the local workforce with the knowledge
and skills needed to excel in emerging industries.
Eligibility
To qualify for assistance through the NC Edge Customized Training Program, businesses
and industries must meet specific eligibility requirements:
Belong to one of the following industries:
- Manufacturing
- Information Technology
- Life Sciences
- Regional or National Warehousing / Distribution Center
- Customer Support Center
- Air Courier Services
- National Headquarters
and must meet two or more of the following criteria:
- Make an appreciable capital investment
- Deploy new technology
- Create new jobs
- Expand an existing workforce
- Enhance the productivity and profitability of operations within North Carolina
