Stanly Community College provides comprehensive Fire and Rescue Continuing Education
programs that meet the training needs of firefighters, rescue personnel, emergency
responders, and fire service agencies throughout North Carolina. The program offers
both North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) certification courses and
non-certification professional development opportunities. OSFM certification courses
are delivered in accordance with state-approved curriculum standards and prepare students
for firefighter, technical rescue, fire officer, instructor, and other specialty certifications.
Non-certification courses enhance operational knowledge, introduce emerging technologies
and best practices, and address the evolving needs of the fire and rescue service.
Through strong partnerships with the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal,
local fire departments, rescue squads, and emergency service organizations, Stanly
Community College delivers accessible, high-quality training that promotes responder
safety, professional competency, and regulatory compliance. As a partner with the
Office of State Fire Marshal, the College also assists in delivering courses at the
state-of-the-art
OSFM Emergency Training Center (ETC), expanding access to advanced, hands-on training in specialized disciplines such
as swift water rescue, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), and advanced structural
firefighting techniques. These collaborative efforts strengthen regional training
capacity and ensure emergency responders are prepared to meet the complex challenges
of today's fire and rescue service.
