Dr. Scott Bullard, President of Pfeiffer University, and Dr. John Enamait, President of Stanly Community College, are all smiles about the agreement to help make obtaining degrees more affordable to area students.
Albemarle, NC – Students graduating from Stanly Community College (SCC) have another great reason to stay close to home while obtaining their bachelor’s degree. On Monday, March 7 officials from SCC and Pfeiffer University signed an agreement allowing SCC graduates with a qualifying GPA to receive a tuition discount to attend Pfeiffer University as juniors.
“While the average graduation rate for community college students on the national level hovers around the twenty percent range, Stanly Community College’s latest cohort shows a 56% graduation rate. This is the highest rate we’ve ever realized, so we really are seeing great strides in student success thanks to our faculty and staff,” said Dr. John Enamait, President of SCC. “However, just as important as seeing students succeed while they are here with us, we care about what happens to them after they graduate. This is what I find so tremendous about today’s signing. Providing area students the opportunity to receive all of their higher education degrees without ever leaving the county is quite impactful and the already-strong partnership between our two institutions is needed for our residents.”
John Bowman, Head of University Transfer at SCC, shared details from the agreement, which states, “Students in traditional programs who have at least a 2.5 GPA will automatically receive a $20,000 per year Transfer Scholarship, while online students with at least a 2.5 GPA will receive a 20% tuition discount.” In addition, Bowman pointed out other highlights of the agreement, which include:
• Students in the online RN to BSN pathway with a 2.5 or higher GPA will be charged only $189 per credit hour.
• Students entering on the Elementary Education pathways must hold a GPA of 2.75 or higher for admission in order to receive the automatic $20,000 per year Transfer Scholarship.
• Students who enroll at Pfeiffer University under this articulation agreement will also receive a waiver from the “Residential/Off-Campus Housing” policy which requires Pfeiffer students to live on campus.
