(July 9, 2026) ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Stanly Community College President Dr. John Enamait and the college’s Board of Trustees have been selected to participate in the 2026-27 Aspen Presidents & Trustees Collaborative, a yearlong initiative led by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program.

Stanly Community College (SCC) is one of eight nationwide institutions selected for the Collaborative's second cohort. The program brings community college presidents and trustees together to strengthen governance practices and align board decision making with long-term student success priorities.

“Our Board of Trustees has been an important partner in Stanly Community College’s progress, and this opportunity will help us build on that success,” said Dr. Enamait. “We look forward to learning from other colleges across the country, sharing what we have learned at SCC, and strengthening the work of our Board and leadership team so we can create even greater opportunities for our students and the communities we serve.”

Selected colleges will participate in activities focused on presidents and trustees working together to identify shared priorities and advance student-based reforms. Through the program, college leadership teams will build sustainable governance practices that support meaningful reforms and stronger student outcomes over time, aligned with Aspen’s frameworks for community college leadership and student success.

The Collaborative allows college leaders to share viewpoints from a rural perspective while learning from institutions across the country. Through this program, SCC will continue building on its student-centered approach while contributing to the national conversation about how community college presidents and trustees can work together to create lasting improvements for students.
