Stanly Community College (SCC) will offer accelerated four-week online classes to allow students to earn college credits over winter break. These classes are available to current SCC students and students from other colleges and universities who may want to take a general education “core” class that would transfer to their institution.
Classes begin on Monday, December 11, 2023, and end on Friday, January 5, 2024.
“Taking accelerated winter session classes is a great way to work ahead toward one’s degree over winter break," Associate Vice President of the School of Transfer & Business Tammi McIlwaine said. “Students should be prepared for the workload of these winter session classes, as they are just as rigorous as classes in a full fall, spring or summer semester. It is a great opportunity for students to pick up one extra class toward their program at SCC or for university students who are home for the holidays to pick up an extra course.”
SCC students can register online or contact their success coach for assistance. Students from other colleges and universities can apply online at www.stanly.edu from the website’s homepage.
Five classes are classified as Universal General Education Transfer Component courses (UGETC), meaning they will meet some freshman/sophomore lower division general education requirements at all UNC institutions.
