Albemarle, NC – Stanly Community College (SCC) has announced the election of Zackary Treece of Badin, as Student Government Association (SGA) president for the 2022-23 academic year.

Pursuing an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business and Accounting, he is a 4.0 student and plans to work toward a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

SGA serves as student voice in campus matters, with the SGA president sitting on the Board of Trustees for the College. The group also serves as the “umbrella” for other campus student organizations and organizes Fall Fest and Spring Fling, the two major all-campus social activities of the year.

During the 2021-22 school year, Treece served as president of the SCC Art Club and represented that group as a senator at SGA meetings.

“I am excited to serve as an SGA leader and look forward to contributing to successful activities and programs for the student body,” Treece commented. “The position holds a lot of responsibility, but I am willing to work hard and use good decision-making skills throughout the year.”

Treece succeeds Cassidy Ball, who recently graduated from the SCC Associate in Arts program and transferred to the University of North Carolina Pembroke as a Business Management major.
