Nurse Aide Level I


This course consists of 175 hours, which includes 125 hours of lectures, labs and test preparation as well as 50 hours of clinical experience and instruction in a long-term care facility. Students will learn basic nursing skills and how to provide personal care such as vital signs, bathing, dressing and feeding those who need assistance. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the graduate will receive a Certificate of Completion and may then apply to the NNAAP NA I State Exam through NACES. This exam is an additional cost of $101. Once the student has successfully completed the State Exam, they will be listed on the NC NA I Registry.

Other costs associated with this course are uniforms, ID Tag, textbook, and a criminal background check. Students will be required to show proof of immunizations prior to clinical assignment.

Students must provide a United States High School diploma or GED, current driver’s license and signed social security card on the first day of class. Those without a US diploma or GED must contact Andrea Steed at (704) 991-0253 on the Albemarle Campus or Donna Hinson at (704) 991–0251 on the Locust Campus to schedule an appointment for a reading assessment.

This course is required as a pre-requisite for the SCC Associate Degree in Nursing Program.

Additional Information:

• Two Uniforms (white top and black bottoms), sneakers/shoes (white or black), and a watch with a second hand

• At course end of the course an additional fee for testing is required

Requirements: (Must bring on registration day)

• U.S. H.S. Diploma or GED (10th grade reading assessment results if no diploma or GED)

• Current Driver’s license or State ID

• Signed Social Security card
