Dr. John Enamait
President, Stanly Community College
Get to know our President...
Dr. Enamait was appointed as President in August 2016 and is the fifth President since SCC’s inception in 1971.
Dr. Enamait received a Ph.D. in Technology Management with a Digital Communications specialization from Indiana State University. Additionally, he earned an MBA and B.S. from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. He is a proud community college graduate, holding an A.A.S. degree from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in Hudson, NC.
Prior to his role as President at SCC, Dr. Enamait served as Vice President of Instruction at Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro, NC. He also served as Dean of the School of Business, Industry, and Technology at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC.
Dr. Enamait started his educational career at his alma mater, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, where he served as a faculty member of Information Systems and Business Administration. Before his working career in the North Carolina Community College System, Dr. Enamait worked for an industrial Fortune 500 subsidiary in several capacities. His last position in industry was manufacturing engineer.
Dr. Enamait is active within his community, serving as past chair of the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Stanly County Economic Development Commission and the Albemarle Rotary Club. He also serves on the Stanly County Family YMCA board and is a member of the NC Association of Community College Presidents where he serves on the Technology Committee.
Nationally, Dr. Enamait was recently appointed to a three-year term on the board for the American Association of Community Colleges. He also is chair of the board for the Southern Association of Colleges with Associate Degrees. Dr. Enamait is also active with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, having chaired three on-site Reaffirmation Committees, served as an on-site reaffirmation team member for an additional six SACSCOC Commit Committees, and participated on two off-site committees.
Dr. Enamait and his wife Anissa live in Albemarle with their two daughters, Arielle and Aleaha.
