Testing and Assessment

Placement testing may be needed if the student meets any of the following criteria:

• Has earned a High School Equivalency or GED and did not meet the college readiness measures.
• Has graduated from a Non-US High School.
• Does not have a valid high school GPA.
• Has graduated from high school and successfully completed Math 2 more than 10 years prior to enrollment.

• SCC offers CLEP (College Level Examination Program) to anyone desiring to quickly earned credit for what they already know at a fraction of the cost of a college course.
• There is an $89 test fee payable to College Board at the time of registration and a $20 administration fee payable to Stanly Community College in the Business Office prior to each CLEP appointment. 
• Active Military Service Members may be eligible to take exams for free - Check eligibility.
