Stanly Community College is excited to announce the Community Kids Festival, an entertaining event celebrating the Week of the Young Child and highlighting the importance of Early Childhood Education. The festival will be on Saturday, April 6, from 10 AM to 1 PM, at Stanly Community College, 141 College Drive in Albemarle. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for April 20.

This family-friendly event promises various fun and educational activities for children and their families. The festival will feature a bounce house, face painting, community agency displays, food trucks, a magician, a kids' zone play area and exciting touch-a-truck opportunities.

“A child's learning and development start early in life. We emphasize our shared responsibility to nurture young minds by uniting families, educators, and community resources,” said Cyndie Osborne, program head, instructor and advisor for SCC’s Early Childhood Education program. “The festival showcases the crucial role of early childhood education in shaping the future of young generations and the need to support families in this journey. SCC is committed to promoting the importance of early childhood education and supporting dedicated professionals in the field. As we kick off the Week of the Young Child, let's recognize our ability to positively impact children's lives, providing them a solid foundation to thrive in a constantly changing world.”

Participating organizations, including various recreational organizations, community resource agencies, local childcare facilities, SCC programs, and more, are eager to interact with attendees. This is a unique chance to learn about the valuable resources available in the community to support early childhood development.

Pets are not allowed at the festival to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees. Certified service animals are the only exception.

The event is made possible in part through grant funding from The Hunt Institute.
