North Carolina's Pathway to Education & Economic Mobility for People with IDD

There is a large population of people in North Carolina who believe they don't have the option to go to college or pursue their dreams. Access to Achievement changes that.

Stanly Community College has been selected by the North Carolina Community College System to be part of a state initiative to provide inclusive post-secondary education, leading to employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Access to Achievement transforms lives by creating accessible educational pathways for individuals with IDD across North Carolina, empowering them to achieve independence, gain workforce skills, and participate fully in their communities.

This initiative is created in partnership with multiple campus departments to improve access to education, including curriculum, trade, continuing education and basic skills programs.

Our Access to Achievement Coordinator can provide assistance with:

  • Person-Centered Plans
  • Program Placement
  • & More!
Our goal is to assist in opening doors to the workforce, through inclusive environments, so our students can achieve life-long success.
To work with our Access to Achievement Coordinator, students only need to self-identify as needing services, with no requirement to have an official disability diagnosis.
