Citizens Law Enforcement Academy (Bart Burpeau Memorial)

Become acquainted with your law enforcement's role and the criminal justice system. Learn what demands are placed upon today's law enforcement officers!  This course teaches you about the many diverse departments within the criminal justice system.  Learn about the local Sheriff's Department, Police Department, Stanly County Jail, Clerk of Courts, District Attorney, Judges, Police Vehicles, Firearms Range, Weapons, Gun Safety, K-9 Units, and much more.  If you are interested in participating in this unique opportunity offered through the cooperative efforts of the Albemarle Police Department, Stanly County Sheriff's Office, and Stanly Community College (at no cost) you should begin the application process immediately as the Academy is limited to twenty (20) participants.

An application may be obtained here or by contacting us.  Any resident of Stanly County, who is at least 21 years of age and meets the qualifications stated on the application and wishes to participate in this exciting experience, is urged to apply.

Detention Officer Certification Course

This course should be taken by those seeking certification as detention officers. This course is governed by the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
