The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Certificate Program provides individuals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to respond and to
provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical
and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.
Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs) possess the basic knowledge and skills
necessary to provide patient care and transportation. AEMTs function as part of a
comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. AEMTs perform interventions with
the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency
Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
Students completing this program are eligible to take state and/or national certification
examinations. Employment opportunities include providers of emergency medical services,
fire departments, rescue agencies, hospital specialty areas, industry, educational,
and government agencies.
AEMT Program Goal
