Albemarle, NC – The Stanly Community College (SCC) Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Gene Eudy Endowed Scholarship by Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member.

Eudy was a retired truck driver for C&A in Albemarle and enjoyed gardening and fishing along the coast. He was a very active member of the church and had a passion for both feeding the hungry and encouraging the opportunities for continued education before passing away in 2015.

The scholarship is for $1000 ($500/fall and $500/spring) for eligible students, and will be available on an ongoing basis starting the fall 2022 semester. Scholarship applications are now being accepted, and are located on the financial aid page at www.stanly.edu.

In addition to the endowed scholarship, the church made a $450 contribution to the SCC Student Emergency Fund, which helps students faced with financial obstacles during their studies at the College with up to $300 funding a year.

Since 1971, Stanly Community College has provided educational and career training opportunities to thousands of people across the region. Today, SCC serves nearly 10,000 students annually and has become a beacon of hope and change for countless individuals. To ensure that the College can continue this tradition of serving as an educational resource, the Foundation strives to meet and address the current and anticipated needs of the College and our students.
