You’ve probably needed a notary public at some point—maybe to finalize a mortgage, transfer a car title, or sign important legal documents. But have you ever thought about what a notary does? Or better yet, considered becoming one yourself?
Notaries are critical in preventing fraud by verifying identities and witnessing signatures on official documents. Their services are essential in industries such as banking, real estate, healthcare, law, and automotive sales. Not only is becoming a notary a valuable skill, but it can also be a great way to boost your professional credentials and earn additional income.
Stanly Community College (SCC) offers a six-hour Notary Public Certification course to help individuals meet North Carolina’s requirements to become a notary.
“Notaries are essential to everyday business and legal transactions,” says Shavon Bowser, SCC’s notary public training instructor. “This certification is an excellent way to enhance your skill set and open doors to new career opportunities.”
In North Carolina, notaries can earn between $28 to $33 per hour.
