NC Vehicle Emissions OBDII Certification Training

Description:

This course is designed to meet the training and licensing requirements (initial and/or renewal) for the Vehicle On-Board Diagnostic (OBD II) Emissions Inspection Program administered by the NC Division of Motor Vehicles, License and Theft Bureau. Upon completion, a student will understand the rules, regulations and procedures for conducting a vehicle OBDII emissions inspection; be able to inspect a vehicle properly; and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam.

This course will instruct students on NC State Emissions Rules and Regulations as per NC State mandated codes set forth by Raleigh, NC. With this training and passing grade, students will be able to receive their state license to perform NC State Emissions OBDII inspections.

This course focuses on the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) test procedure and requirements of the inspections personnel to successfully perform the OBD Inspector-Mechanic (I/M) test. Upon completion of this training, participants will be administered the North Carolina OBD II state certification exam. The results of this exam will be forwarded to the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles for OBDII I/M certification.

Grading: OBD II Emissions Certification: A student’s level of success will be determined by the results of the NC OBD Emissions Inspection Certification Exam administered at the end of the class with a score of no less than 80 percent (80%).
