We offer various other funding opportunities to help you succeed, no matter your academic plans.
The Book Assistance Payment Plan is available to current students who may need assistance in bridging the cost of books. This plan is interest-free and must be repaid within 60 days from the date of origination.
Students must complete the Book Assistance Payment Plan application which is available in the Financial Aid Office.
Criteria:
- No cash out
- Maximum amount available is $600
- Due date is 60 days from date of book purchase
- Students must be in good standing as related to academic progression*
Students' failure to repay the loan funds by the designated date will render the student ineligible to re-enroll in future terms until the debt is paid in full. When appropriate, the loan will be assigned to the Attorney General's Office for collection.

Stanly Community College Foundation, via donations from faculty, staff, and the community, makes available limited funds to assist regularly enrolled students with nonacademic financial emergencies.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant must be a curriculum student(including Career and College Promise students) that is currently enrolled in at least half-time, or 6 credit hours, at SCC and and attending classes in the semester of the request. Requests from occupational education students will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- The student’s request for assistance needs to be directly related to what is necessary and appropriate for the student to be successful in completing their academic studies during current enrollment.
- The student should be the actual person responsible for paying the requested bill (not a student requesting the emergency fund to pay for another person or for another family member). Multiple requests from the same household will not be considered.
- Students must complete the SCC Foundation Emergency Fund Request form.If request is for past due bill, the student must provide a copy of the bill. Students should allow at least five business days for processing after submitting the form.The bill must be currently dated and past due or within a week of becoming past due.
- Request for assistance will need to come from the following categories: utility bills (power, heating & water), rent, internet, and insurance, and expenses for required equipment/items for specialty programs.
- College and Career Promise students may only request funds to cover class expenses not covered by another source.
Amount of award: $300 (per calendar year)

The Finish Line grant is awarded to current students who are on the cusp of completing their education or training and are faced with an unanticipated financial hardship that may prevent that completion.
The grant can be used for course materials, housing, medical needs, dependent care or other financial hardships that students face through no fault of their own.
Amount of Award: up to $1,000.00
Submit the completed Finish Line Grant application to the Financial Aid office at financialaid@stanly.edu.
To support the students who are experiencing transportation issues, SCC will provide a local transportation assistance program. The LCCCG grant is awarded first come, first come to current students who are faced with an unanticipated financial hardship and are experiencing transportation issues.
Amount of Award: Up to $75.00 (per month)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be enrolled in a seated class at Stanly Community College in a curriculum program or an eligible workforce continuing education course leading to an industry-recognized credential.
- Be in good academic standing (have a GPA of 2.00 or higher).
Note: The LCCCG grant has limited funding per academic year and is first come, first served.
Submit the completed Underserved Student Transportation Grant application to the Financial Aid office at financialaid@stanly.edu.
