Nurse Aide Level II
Description:
This is a 179-hour course consisting of theory, lab, competency testing, and 80 hours of clinical experience in a hospital type setting. In this course students learn to set up oxygen, complete dressing changes, follow sterile technique, assist with IV therapy, administer tube feedings, suction patients, perform tracheostomy care, catheterizations, ostomy care, and finger stick blood sugar checks, as well as learn how to care for patients with fecal impactions. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to be listed as a Nurse Aide II on the NCBON website for a fee of $24.
Requirements:
Proof of US High School Diploma or GED, social security card, valid photo ID, listing on NA I registry in good standing throughout the course, and up-to-date immunizations (proof of 2 MMRs, 2 Varicella, 3 Hepatitis B, tetanus within last 10 years, and 2 negative TB skin tests within 12 months). Students must purchase uniforms for clinical, textbook (approximately $100 in bookstore), criminal background check ($40-$50 or $10 if recent one with SCC in last 6 months), and urine drug screen ($35).
