Medication Aide – Long-Term Care

Description:

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) Medication Aide Registry. This registry listing allows nurse aides to administer medications to long-term care patients. Topics include: oral, topical, and instillation medication routes; medical asepsis; hand hygiene; terminology; and legal implications. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to take the NCBON Medication Aide Exam.

Requirements:

  • Driver’s license and Social Security Card
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Students must have current, unexpired (or actively pursuing a current) listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry

Total hours: 24

Additional Information:

  • Due at registration $70.50.
  • Text is required and is available in the SCC Bookstore.

The class will meet in person at the Crutchfield Education Center (Locust, NC) on Saturdays from 8am to 4:30pm.
