Stanly Community College (SCC) follows guidelines for the retention and disposition of records as set forth by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and published in the Records Retention & Disposition Schedule, Colleges in the North Carolina Community College System.
This manual is periodically updated and available at https://www.nccommunitycolleges.edu/college-faculty-staff/tech-operations/records-retention/.
For purposes of SCC records, if the guidelines of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources state “when the reference value ends”, then SCC recommends employees determine whether the records will be needed in the upcoming academic year. If so, then the records should be retained and reevaluated after the end of the academic year. Moreover, records that can be digitized and are not required to be held in hard copy for other purposes may be digitized and hard copy destroyed after the end of the academic year during which the record was produced.
