Comments: Full Course Title: Detecting Deception Within
Interpersonal Communication
This is an online course offering, presented by
Don Rabon of Highly Motivated Inc through Canvas.
Within the conduct of the interview, the
utilization of deception-related tactics by the
interviewee is designed to give the interviewer
a false sense of reality. Deception is the
manipulation of the interviewer by the
interviewee via verbal, vocal and non-verbal
means. An interviewer lacking an effective work
ing knowledge of the elements and manifestations
of deception can assess a truthful interviewee
as deceptive and a deceptive interviewee as
truthful.
The session utilizes related materials, previous
ly recorded interviews and recorded lectures to
address the concept.
Objectives:
Given a video or audio recording of an interview,
the participant will:
1. Identify any specific deception clues;
2. Provide the terminology of the deception
clues;
3. Apply an appropriate amplifying question in
to the topic that was discussed at the point
the deception clue presented.
