Investigating Allegations |

Section Name: CJC-500583-100
Comments: Online Class: Discussion of the unique
complexities of deciphering false allegations.
The reasons for making these are diverse and
complicated. As anyone who has been tasked
with determining veracity can attest, it is
frustrating at times, to say the least. In this
course, we hope to explore some options and
techniques which will allow the interviewer to
mitigate these challenges resulting in a
successful interview for all parties involved.
Course Overview: Designed for criminal justice,
forensic and personnel interviewers, course tasks
have been divided into a four-week time frame.
Once available assignments will remain operable
until the end of the course.
Lesson Purpose: This course is designed to
introduce course participants to the particular
type of inquiry and the requisite mindset of
those charges with conducting the inquiry.
Additionally, we will examine the process of
inquiry as it applies to an allegation. Lastly,
we will connect these two elements - cognition
and process. How the investigator "thinks" plays
no small role on the development of the process.
Training Objectives: At the end of this block of
instruction, the student will be able to achieve
the following objectives in accordance with
information received during the instructional
period:
1) Acquire additional interviewing knowledge,
skills and techniques to assist in their job
functions and/or add to their repertoire of
expertise.
2) Develop a deeper understanding of the
relationship between cognition and process and
their effect on the investigation of an
allegation.

with practical, evidence-based strategies to
recognize, assess, and de-escalate crises
involving individuals with mental illness.
Through a blend of video-based analysis,
cognitive-behavioral techniques, and trauma
-informed approaches, participants will learn
how to apply effective communication, risk
assessment, and decision-making under stress
while prioritizing safety, legal considerations,
and the preservation of rights. The course covers
understanding common mental health conditions,
reducing stigma, building collaborative links with
mental health resources, and implementing
procedural justice principles to improve outcomes
for both the public and officers. Interactive
modules, real-world case studies, and reflective
exercises reinforce skills in de-escalation,
safety planning, crisis intervention, and
appropriate use-of-force decisions, ensuring

SUMMARY: The purpose of this course is to
provide Law Enforcement with extra techniques
to enhance their white-collar crime
investigations. The course will focus on
teaching strategies to investigate, grasp the
nuances and intricacies of such cases, and

Agencies why their cases should be prosecuted.
This course will begin by explaining the wide
range of white-collar crimes that Officers and
Detectives will be involved in and will have a
hands-on practice of investigating a white-
collar crime case. There will be discussions
that involve money-laundering, mail and wire
fraud, RICO Act, ethical considerations,
sentencing involved in Federal cases that may
differ than that at the local level, and the

Concept of Persuasion |

|
Section Name: CJC-500585-100
Comments: Online class: Of the three dynamics comprising
the interning process - questioning, detecting
deception and persuasion - the last element,
persuasion, most often proves to be the most
challenging requiring the highest level of
knowledge, skill, and ability. The interviewer
as a persuader is faced with the additional
challenges of ensuring the cooperation is
voluntary and that nothing has been done
within the interview that would cause someone
to make an admission to something that was not
true. This course involves participant analysis
of actual interviews as well as debriefings
from those who sat in the interviewee's chair
as to why they made the admission, why they
did not make the admission and the role of the
interviewer in their decision.
Course Objectives:
* Identify the three (3) most salient elements
most conductive to compliance gaining within the
interview.
* Develop and present an appropriate interview
compliance - gaining strategy.
* Conduct a critique of the interview identifying
the positive and negative dynamics of the interview.
* Provide an alternative compliance - gaining
approach to that same set of circumstances and
interviews.

Section Name: CJC-500588-200
Comments: Metaphor Analysis and the Interview Process
Online class resented by Don Rabon.
Course Overview: Every interview is a
conversation built upon the words, imagery,
and expressions of the participants. Within
those words, metaphors-conscious and unconscious
-reveal how individuals conceptualize their
experiences, relationships, and sense of truth.
Metaphor Analysis and the Interview Process
equips interviewers with the tools to recognize,
interpret, and strategically respond to
metaphoric language, transforming ordinary
dialogue into a rich source of insight.
Participants will learn how to apply metaphor
analysis to investigative, intelligence, and
organizational interview contexts to enhance
rapport, detect incongruence, and uncover
deeper meaning beneath surface level responses.
Learning Objectives: 1) The defining and
distinguishing between linguistic and conceptual
metaphors in interview communication. 2) The
identification common metaphor patterns that
reveal emotional, relational, or cognitive
states. 3) The utilization of metaphor
recognition to build rapport and guide
questioning more effectively. 4) The integration
of metaphor analysis into established
interviewing frameworks for investigative,
intelligence, or evaluative purposes.

Framing/Reframing & Interview |

Section Name: CJC-500586-200
Comments: Framing/Reframing & the Interview Process
Online class presented by Don Rabon!
Course Description: Effective interviewing
depends not only on asking the right questions
-but on shaping the context in which those
questions are understood. Framing/Reframing and
the Interview Process explores how perception,
language, and context influence the flow,
meaning, and outcome of investigative,
intelligence, and operational interviews.
Participants will learn to identify the "frame"
through which subjects interpret events and
inquiries, and to apply reframing strategies
that can clarify truth, reduce resistance, and
promote accurate information disclosure. The
course integrates principles from communication
theory, cognitive psychology, and tactical
interviewing to develop a practical
understanding of how frames shape human response.
Through interactive exercises, case studies,
and scenario-based analysis, learners will:
. Identify and analyze dominant frames in
subject narratives.
. Apply reframing techniques to redirect
unproductive dialogue and challenge deceptive
or defensive postures.
. Employ linguistic and contextual cues to
maintain rapport while reshaping perception.
. Use framing awareness to construct purposeful
interview strategies that align with
operational objectives.
Within the course, participants will have
addressed the elements of the requisite
skillset to managing conversational framing as
a deliberate, ethical, and effective
interviewing tool-enhancing accuracy, influence,
and professional communication outcomes.

Comments: Contemporary Interviewing Dynamics
Online class presented by Don Rabon!
Course Description:
In today's rapidly evolving social and
technological landscape, the art and science
of interviewing requires a reexamination.
"Contemporary Interviewing Dynamics" explores
how shifting cultural paradigms, emerging
technologies, and evolving perceptions of truth
influence the modern interview process. This
exploration positions interviewing as an open
system-one continually reshaped by societal
forces, digital communication norms, and
individual psychological frameworks.
Participants will examine how mobile devices,
instant connectivity, and social media have
redefined both interviewer and interviewee
behavior, expectations, and boundaries. Topics
include the fluidity of truth in the age of
digital narratives, the influence of heightened
narcissism and self-presentation bias, and the
ethical and practical challenges these factors
introduce. Through a combination of theoretical
exploration, topic analysis, and practical
exercises, participants will address adaptive
interviewing strategies amid uncertainty and
constant societal change.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will
address: 1) An analysis as to how societal
and technological trends influence interviewing
behavior. 2) Adapting traditional interviewing
frameworks to contemporary contexts. 3)
Recognizing and managing digital, cognitive,
and ego-driven disruptions during interviews.
4) The application of questioning and
observation techniques to discern credibility
in fluid truth environments.
