Focuses on:
- Prevention of child maltreatment
- Advocating for vulnerable children
Prepares graduates to:
- Recognize variables leading to child maltreatment
- Identify existing systems that react to child maltreatment
- Develop a multidisciplinary approach to respond effectively to cases of child abuse & neglect in its varying forms
Offers an innovative, engagement-based academic curriculum involving:
- Hands-on experience
- Practical skill development
- A focus on community & career
Child Advocacy Studies is a series of four continuing education courses that qualify for credit towards the Stanly Community College Associate Degree in Social and Human Services. Classes are offered during the Spring and Fall terms and can be taken in any order.
- CAS 411001: Perspectives on Child Maltreatment and Child Advocacy
- CAS 412001: Cultural Awareness and Child Maltreatment
- CAS 421001: Professional and System Responses to Child Maltreatment
- CAS 422001: Responding to the Survivor of Child Abuse
This training enhances the knowledge, skills, and abilities for professionals and volunteers in public services and public safety sectors.
