The Early Childhood Department offers a range of learning and support activities, from initial training to ongoing enrichment, which constitutes professional development for those working with and for young children and their families.
- The Intro to Trauma and Resilience is for teachers working with children from infancy
through adolescence. It is important to learn about different terms related to trauma
and resilience, the impact of trauma on the body, brain, and relationships, strategies
for supporting children as well as preparing yourself to work with children who may
have experienced trauma.
- Additional information: This course is designed to support teachers in childcare facilities (homes, centers, and afterschool programs) and public or private school teachers.
- The Intro to Early Childhood Education is an alternative pathway to enter the field
of early childhood education and to apply for the NC Early Childhood Credential from
the Division of Child Development and Early Education to be a lead teacher in a licensed
child care facility.
- Additional information: In order to receive the NC Early Childhood Credential individuals must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
